Shibu Arakkal is a ‘Lorenzo il Magnifico’ Gold Prize winning photo-artist who has practised his art for over twenty years, having shown his work extensively in India and abroad with works in various private collections.
His travel yearnings and his work have taken him to various parts of the world. Passionate about his motorcycles, he is currently working on his first custom project. He is by nature a philosopher, always seeking a higher consciousness of life.
‘iPhonography’is the essence of artistic expression and experimentation using the iPhone and the photographic works born out of this technique, I call ‘iPhonographs’. My expression of photographic art using the iPhonographic medium is technologically experimental, but still on the cutting edge of image creation and reproduction in relation to analogue and archival pigment printing techniques.
This unconventional treatment of modern technology to revive the romance of print brings a surreal quality to smartphone photography, as does the juxtaposition of modernity with the possibilities of traditional print.
“The greater the number of people who share a subjective opinion in favour of a work of art, the greater the possibility of that work becoming timeless”
